Kohler SV471

Kohler SV471The Kohler SV471 is a single-cylinder air-cooled four-stroke internal combustion gasoline engine from the Courage series, manufactured by Kohler Co. The displacement of this engine is 477 cc (29.1 cu·in) for models SV471-00XX, 535 cc, (32.6 cu·in) for models SV471-01XX or 597 cc, (36.4 cu·in) for models SV471-02XX and higher.

The Kohler SV471 engine has an OHV (overhead valve) design, aluminum head and crankcase with cast iron cylinder liner, micro-polished crankshaft bearings, vertical PTO-shaft, and pressurized lubrication system. This engine is equipped with a carburetor with a fixed main jet and an electronic ignition system.

The cylinder bore is 84.0 mm (3.30 in) for SV471-00XX engines, 89.0 mm (3.50 in) for SV471-01X engines, or 94.0 mm (3.70 in) for models SV471-02XX and higher. The piston stroke is 86.0 mm (3.39 in) for all versions. The compression ratio rating is 8.5:1. The SV471 engine produced 15.2 PS (11.2 KW; 15.0 HP) at 3,600 rpm of horsepower and 36.6 Nm (3.73 kg·m; 27.0 ft·lb) of torque.

The breakdown of the engine code is as follows:

  • S – Courage series
  • V – Vertical PTO shaft
  • 471 – Numerical designation
