Infiniti is the luxury vehicle division of Japanese automaker Nissan Motor Company Ltd, which was founded in 1989. Infiniti does not have its own engine line, all Infiniti luxury vehicles are fitted with Nissan engines. Some Infiniti models use Mercedes-Benz engines.

The first and second generations of the Infiniti G20 (Body code: P10 and P11) were sedans based on the Nissan Primera. The third generation (Body code: V35), is a rebadged version of the Nissan Skyline (sedans and coupes).

The first generation of QX56 was based on the Nissan F-Alpha platform and was equipped with 5.6 L V8 engine VK56DE. The second generation was equipped with VK56VD.

From the 2014 model year, the Infiniti QX56 was renamed to the QX80, as a part of Infiniti’s model name rebranding.
