Nissan Z22E

Nissan Z22EThe Nissan Z22E is a 2.2 liter (2,187 cc, 133.45 cu in) straight-four, four-stroke cycle gasoline from Nissan Z-family. The Z22E was fuel-injected version of the Z22S engine. It was producted from 1981 through 1983.

The Nissan Z22E engine features a cast-iron block and aluminum alloy cylinder head with two ignition spark plugs per cylinder. It has a single overhead camshaft (SOHC) and 8 valves (2 per cylinder). The engine is equipped with a fuel injection system. Fuel in this EFI system is not injected directly in the cylinder, but it is injected into the intake port. Therefore, the air-fuel mixture is drawn into the cylinder when the intake valve opens to start the intake stroke.

The Z22E has an 87 mm (3.43 in) cylinder bore and 92 mm (3.62 in) piston stroke with a compression ratio of 8.5:1. It produced 103 HP (77 kW; 105 PS) at 5,200 rpm of horsepower.

The breakdown of the engine code is as follows:

  • Z – Engine Family
  • 22 – 2.2 Liter Displacement
  • E – Electronic Port Fuel Injection
