The Kawasaki FG230 is a 232 cc (14.16 cu-in) single-cylinder air-cooled 4-stroke internal combustion small gasoline engine with horizontal shaft manufactured by Kawasaki Heavy Industries LTd., for general-purpose applications.
The FG230 engine has a cast-iron cylinder liner; two main ball bearings; float type carburetor with fixed main jet; flywheel magneto transistor type ignition system; mechanical governor and recoil starter with an automatic compression release. The engine uses a dual-element air cleaner and splashes lubrication system.
A 74.0 mm (2.91 in) cylinder bore and 54.0 mm (2.13 in) piston stroke give the motor a total of 232 cc of displacement. Compression ratio rating is 6.4:1. The Kawasaki FG230 motor produced 5.8 PS (4.3 kW; 5.8 HP) at 4,000 rpm of horsepower and 12.0 Nm (1.22 kg·m; 8.86 ft·lb) at 2,800 rpm of torque. The FG230G – 1/2 cam gear reduction.
