Nissan FJ20E

Nissan FJ20EThe Nissan FJ20E is a 2.0 liter (1,990 cc, 121.43 cu in) straight-4, four-stroke cycle gasoline engine from Nissan FJ-family. The Nissan FJ20E motor was produced from 1981.

The Nissan FJ20E engine has DOHC (double overhead camshaft) design with 16 valves (4 valves per cylinder), cast-iron block and an aluminum cylinder head; five-bearing crankshaft. The engine is equipped with Multiport Fuel Injection system (4 x 220 cc/min fuel injectors) and ignition system with a mechanical distributor.

The FJ20E engine has an 89.0 mm (3.5 in) cylinder bore and 80.0 mm (3.15 in) piston stroke. The compression ratio is 9.5:1 for Europe and Hong Kong and 9.1:1 for other markets. It produced 150 PS (110 kW; 147.5 HP) at 6,000 rpm of horsepower and 181 Nm (18.46 kg·m; 133.58 ft·lb) at 4,000 rpm of torque.

The breakdown of the engine code is as follows:

  • FJ – Engine Family
  • 20 – 2.0 Liter Displacement
  • *– The FJ20E engine wes developed before Nissan used the D to DOHC design.
  • E – Multi Point Fuel Injection

Cylinder block

The Nissan FJ20E motor has a cast-iron cylinder block. The cylinder block, a monoblock special casting structure, employs a five-bearing-support system. The crankshaft is a special steel forging. The pistons are each fitted with two compression rings and a single oil ring. The crankshaft main journal diameter is 55.0 mm (2.16 in) and crankpin journal diameter is 50.0 mm (1.97 in). Connecting rod center distance is 140.0 mm (5.51 in).
