Kawasaki FH541V KAI

Kawasaki FH541V KAIThe Kawasaki FH541V KAI is a 0.59 l (585 cc, 35.7 cu-in) V-twin 90° air-cooled 4-stroke internal combustion small gasoline engine with vertical shaft, manufactured by Kawasaki Heavy Industries LTd., for general-purpose applications.

The FH541V KAI engine is based on the FH541V motor, but it uses redesigned air cleaner and blower housings, new air filter options, internally vented carburetor, an advanced lubrication system design, and enhancements for optimal stability. The Japanese word “KAI” means evolution, advancement, and renewal.

The FH541V KAI has V-twin 90° design with vertical PTO shaft, cast-iron cylinder liners, and overhead V-valves. The engine is equipped with the electronic spark ignition system and internally-vented carburetor with fuel shut-off solenoid. The motor uses a full pressure lubrication system with spin-on oil filter and dual element air cleaner.

The engine has an automatic compression release (ACR) system with recoil or electric starter (12V solenoid shift starter or 12V bendix starter available as an option). Solenoid fuel shut-off carburetor and alternator for electric clutch are also available as an option.

It has a 74.0 mm (2.91 in) cylinder bore and 68.0 mm (2.68 in) piston stroke. Compression ratio rating is 8.5:1. The Kawasaki FH541V KAI produced 17.3 PS (12.7 kW; 17.0 HP) at 3,600 rpm of maximum horsepower and 49.0 Nm (5.0 kg·m; 36.2 ft·lb) at 2,000 rpm of torque.
