BMW M44B19

BMW M44B19The BMW M44B19 is a 1.9 liters (1,895 cc, 115.6 cu·in) straight-four, four-stroke cycle, natural aspirated gasoline engine from the BMW M44-family. The engine was manufactured from 1996 to 2000.

The M44B19 engine features a cast-iron cylinder block, a crankshaft with four counterweights and aluminum head with a chain-driven double overhead camshafts (DOHC) and four valves per cylinder (16 in total) with hydraulic tappets. Cylinder bore is 85.0 mm (3.35 in) and piston stroke is 83.5 mm (3.29 in). The compression ratio rating is 10.0:1.

This engine used a Multi Point Fuel Injection system (MPFI), the Bosch Motronic 5.2 engine management system and a dual length intake manifold (BMW “DISA”). Redline is 6,500 rpm.

The BMW M44B19 engine produced 140.0 PS (103 kW; 138.0 HP) at 6,000 rpm of maximum output power and 180 N·m (18.4 kg·m, 132.7 ft·lb) at 4,300 rpm of peak torque.

The breakdown of the engine code is as follows:

  • M44 – Engine Family
  • B – Gasoline
  • 19 – 1.9 Liter displacement
