The Hatz 1B27 is a 280 cc, (17.09 cu-in) single-cylinder air-cooled 4-stroke internal combustion diesel engine with a horizontal shaft, manufactured by Motorenfabrik Hatz GmbH & Co. KG for general-purpose applications.
This engine is equipped with a decompression device, injection pump drive, oil pump with oil pump pressure regulator, valve train system for inlet and outlet valve, governor, speed control lever with governor spring and the multi-functional mechanical control system are integrated into the governor housing. The Hatz 1B27 engine can be equipped with a recoil starter or electric starter motor 12 or 24 Volts.
A 74.0 mm (2.91 in) cylinder bore and 65.0 mm (2.56 in) piston stroke give the 1B27 engine a total of 280 cc (17.09 cu-in) of displacement. Compression ratio rating is 21.5:1. It produced from 2.2 HP (1.6 kW) at 1,600 to 5.4 HP (4.0 kW) at 3,600 rpm of maximum output. The torque is 12.50 N·m (1.3 kg·m, 9.2 ft·lb) at 2,300 rpm.
