The Infiniti QX56 (JA60) is a first generation of full-size sport utility vehicle (SUV) manufactured by the Infiniti division of Nissan Motor Company since 2004 to 2010.
The QX56 was based on the Nissan F-Alpha platform and was equipped with 5.6 L V8 engine VK56DE and an electronically controlled 5-speed automatic transmission with a driver-adaptive learning algorithm. The QX56 was available in rear-wheel or four-wheel drive versions.
The engine has an aluminum cylinder block with low-friction molybdenum-coated pistons and an aluminum head with DOHC (Dual overhead camshaft) design and four valves per cylinder. Each cylinder in the engine was lined with cast iron. The VK56DE has an electronic throttle, ignition system with individual coils on each spark plug and engine-speed-sensing variable-assist power rack-and-pinion steering. The first generation of the engine was not equipped with any valve timing control system, the version after 2007 has CVTC (Continuous Variable Valve Timing Control) system on intake shafts.
The VK56DE engine cylinder bore and piston stroke is 98.0 mm (3.86 in) and 92.0 mm (3.62 in), respectively. Compression ratio rating is 9.8:1. The QX56 produced from 315 HP (235 kW) to 320 HP (240 kW) and 390 lb⋅ft (530 N⋅m) to 393 lb⋅ft (533 N⋅m).
