The Kohler CH16/CH16S is a 426 cc (26.0 cu·in) single-cylinder air-cooled four-stroke internal combustion gasoline engine from the Command PRO series, manufactured by Kohler Co.
The Kohler CH16 engine has an OHV (overhead valve) design, an aluminum block with cast iron cylinder liners, a horizontal PTO-shaft, full-pressurized lubrication system. This engine is equipped with a carburetor (Nikki or Keihin) with a fixed main jet and dependable electronic magneto ignition system.
A 90.0 mm (3.54 in) cylinder bore and 67.0 mm (2.64 in) piston stroke give the CH16 engine a total of 426 cc of displacement. The compression ratio rating is 8.5:1.
This engine produced 16.2 PS (11.9 KW; 16.0 HP) at 3,600 rpm of horsepower and 33.9 Nm (3.5 kg·m; 25.0 ft·lb) at 2,400 rpm of torque.
The breakdown of the engine code is as follows:
- C – Command series
- H – Horizontal PTO shaft
- 16 – Numerical designation
- Version code:
- S – Electric start
- T – Retractable start
- ST – Electric/Retractable start
- GT – Generator application/Retractable start
