The Subaru-Robin EA190V engine has an OHC (overhead camshaft) system with chain drive for optimized engine size and durability; hemispherical head with angled intake/exhaust valves; cast-iron cylinder line; float type carburetor; capacitance discharge type ignition system.

The cylinder bore is 68.0 mm (2.67 in) and the piston stroke is 52.0 mm (2.05 in), compression ratio rating is 9.0:1. The engine produced 5.5 HP (4.1 kW) at 3,600 rpm of maximum horsepower. Maximum torque is 11.2 N·m (1.1 kg·m, 8.3 ft·lb) at 2,500 rpm.
