Subaru-Robin SP170

SP170The Subaru-Robin SP170 is a 169 cc (10.31 cu-in) single-cylinder air-cooled 4-stroke internal combustion small gasoline engine manufactured by Industrial Products division of Subaru Corporation for general-purpose applications.

The Subaru-Robin SP170 engine has an OHС (overhead camshaft) design; high compression ratio for better fuel efficiency; horizontal draft, float type carburetor; recoil starter and transistorized magneto ignition system.

Bore and stroke are 67.0 mm (2.64 in) and 48.0 mm (1.89 in), respectively. Compression ratio rating is 8.5:1. The engine produced 5.7 PS (4.2 kW; 5.6 HP) at 4,000 rpm of maximum horsepower and 3.5 PS (2.6 kW; 3.5 HP) at 3,000 rpm or 3.9 PS (2.9 kW; 3.9 HP) at 3,600 rpm of continuous output power. Maximum torque is 11.3 N·m (1.2 kg·m, 8.3 ft·lb) at 2,500 rpm.

  1. I have a SP 170 engine. what is the recommended compression for this engine? I get a reading of 50, is that acceptable?

  2. All well and good, but . . . I cannot find on 50+ listings . . . how much oil I
should install in my 6hp Robin pressure washer when I change my oil. What the heck is the mystery, and where should I look?
Oh yeah, what is .63 of a U.S. Qt in real numbersm as I do not have a beakeer that show that typ/kind of amts.

  3. Hello , good day gentlemen –

  4. My SP170 is hooked up to a leaf blower. After running for about an hour, it slowly died on me. PLENTY OF GAS LEFT. could THE ON/OFF SWITCH HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH THE PROBLEM?
