Toyota 2T

Toyota 2TThe Toyota 2T is a 1.6 liter (1,588 cc, 96.9 cu in) straight-four, four-stroke carburetor gasoline engine from Toyota T-family. TheToyota 2T engine was produced from 1970 through 1984.

This engine used OHV (overhead valve) design with two valves per cylinder (8 valves in total), cast-iron cylinder block and an alloy cylinder head with hardened valve seats and a hemispherical combustion chamber design (HEMI). The 2T engine utilizes a timing chain.
Bore and stroke are 85.0 mm (3.35 in) and 70.0 mm (2.76 in), respectively.

The 2T engine was available in different modifications:

  • The 2T engine was produced from 1970 through 1974 for Japan domestic market. This engine has a single down draught twin barrel carburetor and produced 102 PS (75 kW; 100 HP) at 6,000 rpm of horsepower and 135 Nm (13.7 kg·m; 100 ft·lb) at 3,800 rpm of torque. Compression ratio rating is 8.5:1.
  • The 2T-B engine was produced from 1970 through 1974 for Japan domestic market. This engine has a two down draught twin barrel carburetors and produced 106 PS (78 kW; 105 HP) at 6,000 rpm of horsepower and 138 Nm (14.0 kg·m; 102 ft·lb) at 4,200 rpm of peak torque. Compression ratio rating is 9.4:1.
  • The 2T-BR engine was produced from 1971 through 1976 for Japan domestic market with low compression. This engine has a two down draught twin barrel carburetor and produced 100 PS (74 kW; 99 HP) at 6,000 rpm of horsepower and 136 Nm (13.9 kg·m; 100.4 ft·lb) at 4,200 rpm of peak torque. Compression ratio rating is 8.5:1.
  • The 2T-C engine was produced from 1970 through 1979 for export market and used emission control system. This engine has a single down draught twin barrel carburetor and produced 88 PS (65 kW; 87 HP) at 6,000 rpm of maximum power and 124 Nm (12.5 kg·m; 91 ft·lb) at 3,800 rpm of peak torque. Compression ratio rating is 8.5:1.
  • The 2T-U engine was produced from 1975 for JDM and used Toyota Total Clean System (TTC-C). This engine has a single down draught twin barrel carburetor and produced 90 PS (66 kW; 88 HP) at 6,000 rpm of maximum power and 127 Nm (13.0 kg·m; 94.4 ft·lb) at 3,800 rpm of peak torque. Compression ratio rating is 9.0:1.
  • The 2T-J engine was produced for JDM`s commercial vehicles. This engine has a single down draught twin barrel carburetor and produced 93 PS (68 kW, 92 HP) at 6,000 rpm of power and 128 N⋅m (13.1 kg⋅m, 95.0 ft·lb) at 3,800 rpm of peak torque. Compression ratio rating is 8.5:1.
