The Toyota 7M-GTE is a 3.0 L (2,954 cc, 180.26 cu·in) straight-six, four-stroke cycle turbocharged gasoline engine from the Toyota M-family. The engine was manufactured by the Toyota Motor Corporation from 1986 to 1992. The Toyota 7M-GTE was top performance engine until it was replaced by the 1JZ-GTE.
The Toyota 7M-GTE engine features a cast-iron block, aluminum cylinder head with dual belt-driven overhead camshafts and four valves per cylinder (24 in total). The 7M-7M-GTE is equipped with an electronic fuel injection system and a turbocharger with 5 psi (0.34 bar). It has an 83.0 mm (3.27 in) cylinder bore and 91.0 mm (3.58 in) piston stroke. Compression ratio rating is 8.4:1.
The 7M-GTE engine produced 235 PS (173 kW; 232 HP) at 5,600 rpm of maximum horsepower and 344 N·m (35.1 kg·m, 253.5 ft·lb) at 4,000 rpm of peak torque.
The breakdown of the engine code is as follows:

Cylinder block
The Toyota 7M-GTE engine has a cast-iron cylinder block, bore is 83.0 mm (3.27 in) and the piston stroke is 91.0 mm (3.58 in). The cylinder block, a monoblock specially cast structure, employs the seven bearing support system. The crankshaft has seven journals.
The pistons are aluminum casting. Each piston is fitted with two compression rings and a single oil ring. Compression ratio rating is 8.4:1.

Intake: 32.0 mm
Exhaust: 27.5 mm
Please note that this engine is prone to OEM head gasket failure due to low factory cylinder head torque specs. Current community recommendation is 72 ft/lbs. To completely fix this fault community recommendation is to resurface the block and head and fit with an aftermarket multi-layer steel (MLS) or metal head gasket as was done from the factory with the later JZ engines.
