The Toyota F is a 3.9 L (3,878 cc, 236.6 cu·in) straight-six, four-stroke cycle natural aspirated gasoline engine from the Toyota F-family. The engine was manufactured by the Toyota Motor Corporation from 1949 to 1975.
The Toyota F engine features a cast-iron block, cast-iron cylinder head with a gear driven camshaft and two valves per cylinder (12 in total). A 90.0 mm (3.54 in) cylinder bore and 101.6 mm (4.00 in) piston stroke give the F engine a total of 3878 cc of displacement. The F engine used down draft, single barrel carburetor for the early version, and down draft, two-barrel carburetor for the later version.
This engine produced from 102.0 PS (75 kW; 100.6 HP) to 126.5 PS (93 kW; 124.7 HP) of horsepower and from 261 N·m (26.6 kg·m, 192.4 ft·lb) at 2,000 rpm to 289 N·m (29.5 kg·m, 213 ft·lb) at 2,000 rpm of peak torque (depending on application and market).
The breakdown of the engine code is as follows:
