Yamaha MZ360

Yamaha MZ360The Yamaha MZ360 is a 358 cc (21.8 cu-in) single-cylinder air-cooled 4-stroke internal combustion general-purpose gasoline engine with horizontal shaft manufactured by Yamaha Motor Co., Ltd.

The Yamaha MZ360 engine has an OHV (overhead valve) design; float type carburetor; centrifugal flyweight governor; mechanical splashing lubrication system; Transistor Controlled Ignition (T.C.I.) and recoil or electrical (option) starter. The Yamaha MZ360 used aluminum cylinder block with a spiny cast-iron sleeve. For exhaust valve used high heat resistant SUH3 steel. The MZ360 engine has one balancer on 360. Big capacity single-cylinder engine is able to get larger vibration. In order to cure this, the balancer is needed.

An 85.0 mm (3.35 in) cylinder bore and 63.2 mm (2.48 in) piston stroke give the engine a total of 358 cc of displacement. Compression ratio rating is 8.1:1. The engine produced 10.4 PS (7.6 kW) at 3,600 rpm of maximum horsepower and 8.6 PS (6.3 kW) at 3,600 rpm of continuous rated power. Maximum torque is 23.9 N·m (2.43 kg·m, 17.6 ft·lb) at 2,400 rpm and 47.8 N·m (4.87 kg·m, 35.2 ft·lb) at 1,200 of torque for MZ360R model (Reduction Type).

  1. Hi!
Perhaps you can please help me here,
I have the MZ360 engine powering a Yamaha IND 75 grasscutter.
The engine starts missing and eventually dies after about 3-5 minutes under load.
I being the only driver had a situations where I had hit some strong grass that almost stalled the engine but the engine recovered and went on until recently after the last almost stall then then after runs for 5 and dies, Let it cool down and it starts easily and dies again ??? I have down all the basics ie. plug, fuel, air. The reason I was on this site is I was looking for the valve clearance which could possibly tell me if I has bent a push rod? KInd regards,
    Ray 0824442828
